6MAY2012. The best time to go dumpster-diving is during finals week at your local college dorms. OR, if you live in a tourist-town known for skiing, go at the end of ski (or whatever sport your area is known for) season. People throw away all kinds of things. I’ve found shelves, desks, TVs, all kinds of laundry baskets. You just have to be willing to clean and repurpose things. My fiance didn’t look very pleased with this chair when I brought it home, but now that it’s finished, he gets why I picked it up. Look for shapes that you like, because you can always paint or recover a piece.
22FEB2012. I love my dog, I love shoes, and my dog loves my shoes. It’s important to make sure your pup doesn’t get separation anxiety, but it’s also important to tend to the collateral damage while you’re still training said pup. I took these shoes to a cobbler (is that what you call them?) and he shook his head. Nothing he could do. Well, suck it, cobbler. I love these pumps even more now.
20OCT2011.Usually, when a friend leaves her beer behind, it’s lost forever into the bellies of the hosts. If this were PBR, Rolling Rock, hell, anything else, it wouldn’t have survived long enough to photograph. Perhaps Jamie chooses Miller Lite because she knows that she’s the only person in the universe who still drinks it. It’s important to note that Jamie is also my neighbor, and I’m 100% sure that she has a fridge at her apartment. Every day, I say this sentence when I open my fridge, “Jamie needs to come drink that beer.” Last night, when I had JC over to work on his Halloween costume, he said, “I could totally drink some beers right now.” When I offered him one of Jamie’s Miller Lites, he calmly refused. I think I hurt his feelings.

18OCT2011. Trail mix can get expensive if you buy it regularly. Plus, you never know what sort of bullsh*t’s being put in there. Make this snack at home, and make it however you want. Even with all organic ingredients, this entire 750ml container is a way better value than the 2oz of processed garbage you can nab at the gas station (plus, I have enough leftovers to make this five more times!).
